Why are you wasting your and other people's time so?Since when has protesting and marching achieved anything except when it was a forgone conclusion?Women feminists are still stuck in a sixties mindset.If you cannot go walking on your own some time of day,some place,because you are scared of what might happen to you,how would it help to go with a crowd,having had to ask permission first.You are thereby re-inforcing the very mindset which you are trying to change.You are stating very clearly,to all and sundry,'we are scared to walk alone,so we have to go in a crowd,and ask permission to go for a walk first as well'.Come on.You female feminists have,almost all of you,your head screwed on the wrong way.This is understandable,considering your his(oops)herstory,but you do not seem to take that into account.It's to do with your thinking and reasoning.Yet,what does it take to get through to you people?It has seemed to me that,especially those who identify with the Left,women cannot be turned on intellectually without being penetrated emotionally/physically.You react emotionally to what you don't like to hear.So you never learn,not even the hard way.If you're a feminist,you're political.That means you have to do philosophy.Many women know about philosophy,or so they think.It actually means love of sophy/wisdom,not the rubbish they do in Academia(I say rubbish, because I can see the result in Western society).It also means finding out how it works-politics,i.e.,religion(meta-archetypal and archetypal hardware/steering mind programs and psychology/political software).Then you have to find out how politics works.You think you know.Well,I know what you have been told all these years.It's obvious.It was not meant to make you wiser.That's how it works.Religion,politics,Academia,mainstream medicine and psychology,economics,socio-political and charitables organisations,it is all meant to make you go around in circles.So start thinking for yourself and for feminism,emancipation/humanism.Also,if you cannot face a man on your own in a dark alleyway,you are pushing dung up a veery long hill.No need to be reckless,but,if you cannot,sensibly,get over your own angst,as most women cannot and will not,that is obvious,again,all your political activism is huffing and puffing against one of the high bens you have in Scotland,looking at it,but walking nowhere.Cheers.(Jacob Jonker).

Yes;What a tangled web we weave,or rather;What a tangled web is woven for those of us who are sucked in and cannot see from outside the brown paper bag we are in where we are at,in it,and where It is going.But how well you have summed up the situation.Are you drawing conclusions from your inside analysis?No,only spinning more detailed and circuitous repeat analysis.Academics in the brown paper bag are in a bind,whether they are happy with the system or no.If you read what you have wrote,look at it.Are you seeing what you have said?The problem with people in a bind,or a ghetto for that matter,is how to get to the stage of believing what they know that they know.Many academics have escaped from the brown paper bag.Some have managed to hang on within the system,for financial reasons or otherwise.It's really immaterial whether you opt out or no,once you're in.What you do with your time and your brain while you're in the system is another matter.Once you have worked out where you're at,within the Universe scheme of things,you know what to do and how to fit in/when to opt out.There is no need to spell it out.It's an inexorable evolutionary process.The psychohistorians who have investigated child abuse are onto something,though they cannot bear to follow the train of their research past their socio-politically correct assumptions.

Now, not only will many PhDs experience long periods of unemployment, when they work they will be poorly remunerated and in part-time positions. They will have no support for research (even in the form of a wage), despite the fact that they will not be employed on the next contract if they don’t have a research profile.

Or, like me, they just walk away and do something else entirely. Strangely, outside of academia I've found that employers have been pretty keen to get hold of my PhD, unlike in academia where I felt completly exploited and unwanted.

I do miss teaching, but I can't say I have any other regrets now.

You could simply contact the producers and point out to them what you noticed. They may have had their own reasons for editing the way they did -- thinking they were putting the women in a more accessible light, for example -- and be blind to other impressions it might create.

Obviously, they come with good intentions. So maybe it's just a blind spot peculiar to their industry. We all have them.

When women get, as a result of feminists demands, longer parental leave for women than men (by policy), the entire equal work for equal pay argument is defeated. They are demanding that women recieve equal pay for less work. You can't argue for both, for women of childbearing age.

Great analysis, great post.

When I was younger (20's), I didn't know what to think of "feminist". Just that the word had a negative connotation somehow. As I have grown older (now 38), I realize it's horrible having met so many women who limit themselves mentally or professionally because of perceived expectation of society. Quite frankly, the whole bit is bad for men too.

The whole, "Fine have a kid but make sure it doesn't disturb anyone or acts out or costs us money" ignores the developmental reality of children, the reality that our lives are bookended by periods of time we need other-care (and for many with disability, they need care their whole life), plus the child-segregationalist and non-supportive realities of our social scenarios.
